About Coach

Coach Eric began his grappling journey in middle school through wrestling, where he quickly developed a passion for competition and technical improvement. He went on to become the MVP of his three-time state championship high school wrestling team and has remained involved in martial arts for more than 25 years, including extensive training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Eric’s professional background also shaped the way he teaches. During his career as an F/A-18 fighter pilot in the United States Marine Corps, he served as both a Navy Fighter Weapons and Tactics Instructor (TOPGUN) and a Marine Corps Weapons and Tactics Instructor, earning some of the highest instructional qualifications in military aviation. He also held responsibility for overseeing fighter pilot training within the Marine Corps.

Eric brings that same structured approach to the mats. He often points out that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and aerial combat share important similarities: both demand strong fundamentals, awareness, timing, and the ability to recognize and respond to an opponent’s intentions.

As a coach, Eric emphasizes technical fundamentals, strategy, problem-solving, and intelligent decision-making under pressure. His goal is to help students understand not only how a technique works, but when and why to use it.

Today, Coach Eric continues to train, teach, and help students develop a deeper understanding of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through thoughtful instruction and technical excellence.
